Brazilian designer Claudia Araujos rugs are created from recycled plastic bottles. With the tweedy texture of Berber carpet, the carpet is available in five bold color combinations. A 21-by-32-inch mat sells for $172; a 4-by-6-foot rug is $703, through the Touch showroom in Los Angeles. (Ken Hively / Los Angeles Times)

Known for floral and butterfly rugs with delicate gradations, designer Liora Manne has turned anti-microbial fibers into indoor-outdoor felt. In her latest collection, Loope, Manne adds texture with a raised floral vine pattern called Windsor. Prices run from $175 (for a 3.5-by-5.5-foot rug) to $700 (for an 8-by-10-foot piece).
