Kevin Durant made one fan’s dream come true on Halloween.
On Monday, he tweeted: ‘This lockout is really boring..anybody playing flag football in Okc..I need to run around or something!’
George Overbey, a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity’s intramural flag football team at Oklahoma State, responded without thinking he would get a reply.
‘I retweeted real quick; I said, ‘I’ve got a game up in Stillwater, I need a deep threat,’ ‘ Overbey said.
To Overbey’s surprise, he heard back from Durant right away. They exchanged phone numbers. Then Durant, a small forward for the Oklahoma City Thunder, drove to Overbey’s house and picked up him and his buddies.
‘I think he had fun,’ Overbey said of Durant, a two-time All-Star. ‘He’s just the nicest guy ever. I don’t know what to say. I mean when ... is a LeBron or a Kobe or the best player in the world going to come up here and hang out with Stillwater kids. I mean, says a lot about Oklahoma City, says a lot about Kevin Durant, and we love him here.’
Durant -- whom Overbey said has the wingspan of a two-car garage -- had four touchdowns and three interceptions.
Tuesday morning, Overbey tweeted: ‘Social media really is amazing .. But not as unbelievable as what a quality guy KD is. Wow. OKC couldn’t ask for anything more.’
