I have an update on the fight between fans at the Bonita-San Dimas girls volleyball game that occurred last week.

I spoke with Thom Simmons, spokesman for the Southern Section, and he said his office is investigating the fight.

‘When you have a situation like that, you always allow the schools and the school district to handle it by themselves,’ he said.

Simmons added that the section would step in only if it felt like the schools or the school district weren’t doing enough. But that doesn’t seem to be the case.

‘To our understanding, they are doing a good job,’ said Simmons, who added that he had not heard if any sanctions or punishments.

Last week, William Brinegar, Bonita Unified School District assistant superintendent of human resources, said the district will not comment on ‘what precipitated [the fight] and what the results will be.’

I also spoke with the principal at San Dimas High School, but that conversation was brief. Rather than bore you with the details, just know that the school is not commenting on the matter -- at all. Ever.
