Defending champion: Troy

How it shakes out: The winner of the league opener on Friday between La Habra and Troy likely wins the league title. Both have their threats: Troy (4-1) has running back Derrick Coleman (pictued left), and La Habra (5-0) has quarterback Chris Morales.

Last year’s game was won by Troy, 42-38. The offenses are so explosive, it’s a total toss-up.

La Habra may have a better defense, but the emotional edge may be with Troy after its 43-42 nonleague loss last week to Garden Grove Pacifica.
