With Shara Babakhanian in the lineup, you can never count Hoover out of a basketball game. The senior guard is capable of scoring from anywhere, at anytime, against anyone. And he’s proved as much time and time again this season for the Tornadoes.
He scored 39 points against Canoga Park in the season opener. And then there was a 44-point outburst against Gabrielino a couple of weeks later. Can’t forget about the 51 points against West Adams Prep, highlighted by 10 three-pointers. Babakhanian is averaging 26.5 points a game, a total ranking him among the top 25 scorers in the state.
Hope Muir is paying attention, considering it faces the Tornadoes on Friday in the first game of Pacific League play. If the Mustangs fail to account for No. 32, if they fail to learn from others’ mistakes, it could end up being another one of those eye-opening, high-scoring affairs for Babakhanian.
