It’s not often this season that Fairfax has been an underdog. But that’s the situation the Lions face against Dominguez in tonight’s/Thursday’s Southern California Regionals Division I semifinal .

Fairfax, which travels to Dominguez, lost to the Dons, 57-52, on Dec. 22 at the Amare Stoudemire Invitational tournament in Florida.

And Fairfax Coach Harvey Kitani’s perception is that Dominguez is better since that game.

‘They are a team that has improved all year,’ Kitani said of the Dons. ‘They had that big victory against Mater Dei [in the Southern Section Division I-AA final] last Saturday.’

But Kitani thinks the Lions, seeded third, are better prepared this time to face the second-seeded Dons.

‘Our offensive execution is better now than when we played them the first time,’ he said. ‘I think we’ve grown up a little bit, so I’m looking forward to the game.’
