Texas doing two-step to avoid Santa Clara’s Wood

Cierre Wood of Santa Clara is one of most sought-after football recruits in the country, with scholarship offers on the table from seemingly every powerhouse program in the nation. The who’s who list of prospective colleges includes Notre Dame and Florida, as well as locals UCLA and USC.

Oddly enough, there’s one big-time team not actively pursuing the junior running back -- Texas.

According to these quotes, even Wood is puzzled by the lack of interest. Perhaps the Longhorns haven’t been in contact with him because so many other recruiters have. Or maybe Mack Brown & Co. don’t think they have much of a chance to land the prized prospect. Regardless, it will be interesting to see how things play out.
