Volleyball: Downey beats Brentwood with its two Matts

Downey has two Matts who can dominate the hardwood -- in either volleyball or basketball.

Thursday night, Matt Taylor had 19 kills, four aces and two blocks and Matt Black added 14 kills, six blocks and four aces for Downey (20-4), which pulled off the three-game sweep of Brentwood in the quarterfinals of the Southern Section-Toyota Division III playoffs. The Vikings will play the winner of the Quartz Hill-Yucaipa match, which is going on tonight/Friday.

This past basketball season, Taylor averaged 11.4 points and 5.4 rebounds and Black averaged 8.1 points and 8.4 rebounds.
