Despite settling for two short field goals and having another field goal blocked, Mission Viejo remains in control of its Pac-5 Division playoff opener against Loyola. The Diablos hold a 20-7 halftime lead.
Loyola has moved the ball well at times but hasn’t been able to sustain its offensive movement other than Justyn Williams’ 53-yard touchdown run. Anthony Barr has rushed for 91 yards in 15 carries.
Meanwhile, Mission Viejo quarterback Allan Bridgford looks sharp, having completed nine of 11 passes for 217 yards. It hurt the Diablos that a 35-yard field-goal attempt at the end of the second quarter was blocked. It leaves Loyola within two touchdowns of taking the lead.
