Girls’ basketball: Bell-Jeff leads at halftime

Freshman guard Rishonda Napier has scored 14 points for Bell-Jeff, helping the Guards claim a 34-25 lead at halftime over View Park Prep in the Southern California Division V regional championship at Cal State Fullerton.

Top-seeded Bell-Jeff is doing an excellent job penetrating View Park Prep’s two-three zone defense and converting easy baskets.

Play was halted numerous times throughout the first and second quarter due to scoreboard inaccuracies and a rogue buzzer.

‘Are high school kids running the game as well as playing in it?’ shouted a peeved fan. ‘Perhaps if they were, this wouldn’t be happening,’ retorted an opposing team’s fan.

At least the girls will be well rested for the second half.
