It’s only fair to salute a player who fulfilled his potential in his senior year, and that’s Tim Lopes of Huntington Beach Edison.
The infielder was one of the few returnees from a Sunset League championship team, and he delivered for his young group of teammates, batting .405 with four home runs, three triples and eight stolen bases. He also was 3-1 on the mound with four saves.
Edison (11-13) finished third in the Sunset League.
‘He carried us,’ Coach Steve Lambright said.
Lopes signed with UC Irvine but is expected to be taken in next month’s draft.
