A week after suffering a disappointing five-set loss to Mira Costa in the Southern Section Division 1 championship match, Los Angeles Loyola won the Division I Southern California Regional championship in boys’ volleyball on Saturday night with a 25-20, 25-19, 25-14 victory over San Diego Otay Ranch at Irvine Valley College.
Despite playing without UCLA-bound Nick Porterfield (fractured foot), Loyola dominated from start to finish, with USC-bound Alex Slaught leading the way.
Loyola finished 35-2.
