The Region : Petition Seeks to Keep Tent City Open

More than 250 homeless men and women have signed a petition asking the city and county of Los Angeles and state officials to keep the downtown tent city open after today. “On 2 January 1985, we the residents of Tent City will lose our home. We have no place to go, meaning that once again park benches, trash cans and cardboard boxes will be home,” stated the petition, which was hand-delivered by representatives of the homeless group to various officials.
