The Australian sloop, Indian Pacific, one of the smallest yachts entered, has been declared provisional handicap winner of the Sydney-to-Hobart ocean race.
Race officials said the 36-foot Indian Pacific’s time for the 630-miles race was 4 days 4 hours 34 minutes. Only 47 of 56 yachts managed to finish the race that started from Sydney Harbor Wednesday.
