Construction Under Way at Anaheim City Center

Construction has begun on the first phase of Anaheim City Center, a $200-million project being developed by Meyer Investment Properties Inc. of La Habra and the Anaheim Redevelopment Agency. It will be the city’s first major downtown commercial complex.

Phase 1 consists of a $25-million, 11-story office building with about 188,000 gross square feet, and a four-level parking structure. Typical office floors will offer 18,000 square feet of rental space and the parking structure will have two levels of parking below grade and two above grade.

The architect and master-planner is Langdon Wilson Mumper Architects of Los Angeles, who said, “The buildings have been designed to fit, aesthetically and functionally, into the framework of the city’s anticipated growth. The central focus will be a European-style plaza onto which retail shops and restaurants will open.”

The center’s 13-acre site, to contain 1.25 million square feet of improvements, will cover nine city blocks between Broadway, Harbor Boulevard, Lincoln Avenue and Lemon Street. Expected occupancy date of the Phase 1 building is January, 1986, and leasing is handled by Coldwell Banker.

The general contractor is Pacific Inland Constructors Corp., La Habra. Landscaping will be designed by Emmet Wemple & Associates, Los Angeles, and engineering consultants are Robert Englekirk, Los Angeles, structural; Levine/Seegel Associates, Santa Monica, mechanical and electrical, and Wildan Associates, Anaheim, civil.
