Newport Harbor High School, by virtue of two important Sea View League victories last week, jumped from seventh place to second in the Orange County Sportswriters’ Assn. prep basketball poll.
The Sailors convincingly beat rivals Corona del Mar and Saddleback to put them into a tie for the league lead with the Roadrunners, who are also unbeaten in league play. Saddleback visits Newport Harbor on Wednesday night.
Unbeaten Mater Dei remained at the top of the poll.
