A North Hollywood man, who with a 17-year-old youth is accused of the fatal shooting of a bartender during an alleged robbery attempt, pleaded innocent to a murder charge Wednesday.
Lydell Magee, 18, who police said shot 38-year-old Wayne Paris at Wellington’s Restaurant and Bar in North Hollywood last Thursday, also pleaded not guilty to charges of assault with a deadly weapon and attempted robbery. He is to appear for a hearing at San Fernando Municipal Court Feb. 26.
The 17-year-old, who police said supplied a rifle to Magee, is to be arraigned Feb. 22 on charges of murder and being an accessory after the fact, Deputy Dist. Atty. Keith Schwartz said.
A hearing will be held to determine if the second suspect, who has not been identified because of his age, should be treated as an adult in the case, Schwartz said.
