EDINBURGH, Scotland — The Polish primate, Cardinal Jozef Glemp, had an emotional meeting with scores of his expatriate countrymen in this Scottish capital Friday on the first full day of his 10-day tour of Britain.
The 55-year-old cardinal conferred privately with more than 100 citizens of Polish extraction at one of Edinburgh’s main Roman Catholic churches, St. Anne’s Oratory.
Glemp is on a mission aimed at easing East-West tensions and promoting spiritual unity in Europe.
