PREP BASKETBALL -- Southern Section Boys Playoffs : Muir 76, Westlake 59

Tony Akins scored 28 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and teammate Trevor Houston added 21 points and 13 rebounds to lead Muir High past Westlake in a 4-A playoff game at Westlake.
Muir took the lead for good on a basket by Akins that made it 16-14 late in the first quarter. The Mustangs, 20-6, never looked back as they ended the Warriors’ season at 14-11.
Westlake, which was making only its second appearance ever in the playoffs, was led by forward Lou Salmina, who scored 22 points. Guard Greg Smith finished with 12 points.
