Brea : Strangler Gets Life in Prison Plus Seven Years
- Share via
A Brea man was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison for the 1978 strangulation death of a 72-year-old woman.
Dennis Reed Love, 23, also received a seven-year term, to be served before the life sentence, for the attempted strangulation last year of an 80-year-old woman who lived in the same apartment building as his first victim.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Jay Moseley said the dual sentence will require Love to serve more than nine years before he is eligible for a parole hearing.
Love was convicted last week of murdering Stella Katherine Coleman, of Brea, on April 15, 1978. At that time, the maximum penalty was life in prison. He previously was convicted of the attempted murder.
Love was also convicted of burglary in both crimes.
