Local News In Brief : Gay Rodeo to Kick Off Friday at Griffith Park

California’s first gay rodeo, featuring contests in bronc riding, bull riding, calf roping and cow milking, will be held Friday through Sunday at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Griffith Park.
Competition is open to any man or woman over age 18. Cash prizes will be awarded for each event, and an all-around cowboy and cowgirl will be named. The entry fee is $15 per event per day. In addition, a stall fee of $15 per horse per day will be charged.
Admission prices are $10, $12.50 and $15. Tickets may be obtained by calling the Golden State Rodeo Assn. at (213) 438-8828.
A country dance will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The rodeo will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with the grand entry at 12:30 p.m.
