Rockwell International said the $61.6-million contract from the Air Force space division was to build receivers for users of the Navstar Global Positioning System, a revolutionary navigation system using orbiting satellites. Rockwell officials said the contract could lead to a further $372 million in follow-on contracts and eventually to a major part of a potential $2-billion to $4-billion market. The firm already has won a $1.2-billion contract to build 28 of the satellites, which are to be produced and tested in Seal Beach.
