A 22-year-old sailor died early Saturday when he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a guardrail on northbound Interstate 805, San Diego police reported. Thomas D. McLain of Texas was pronounced dead at 5:50 a.m. after his motorcycle failed to negotiate the Market Street ramp on I-805, throwing him to the ground. McLain was a crewman on the Navy frigate Meyerkord, said a spokesman for the coroner.
