MUNICH, West Germany — An Iranian soldier died from chemical poisoning Wednesday less than 24 hours after being flown to a Munich hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the Persian Gulf War with Iraq.
A spokesman for the Munich clinic said the Iranian had succumbed to the effects of inhaling what appeared to be mustard gas.
About 20 Iranians are being treated at West German hospitals for injuries caused by chemical weapons, which Iran claims Iraq is using in the gulf conflict.
