The worldwide freight forwarding concern filed for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, said Timothy Vineyard, a Dallas lawyer representing Behring. “It just became necessary to seek relief,” he said. Vineyard said Behring owes money to a number of creditors but declined to specify a dollar figure for debts outstanding. The creditors include at least 20 companies, including more than a dozen airlines and several steamship companies in countries scattered around the world. Behring, with offices worldwide, arranges shipments of goods by air, sea and other means.
