Two of three reputed gang members charged in the killing of a police officer during a holdup at a Chinatown jewelry store were identified in court as men who had committed two other robberies. Sang Nam Chinh, 19, of Rosemead was identified at the preliminary hearing by witness Vy Trinh as the man who robbed him and his mother and sister at their home in November. Hau Cheong Chan, 29, was identified by Alan Wong as one of two armed men who stole $8,000 in cash and jewelry from Wong and another man at Wong’s business in Los Angeles in December. Chinh and Chan are charged with killing officer Duane Johnson, 27, during a robbery Dec. 19 at the Jin Hing jade jewelry and antiques store in Chinatown. They are also charged with the deaths of their two alleged accomplices and with trying to kill Johnson’s partner.
