Two A-4 jets in the Navy Blue Angels precision flying team collided during an air show stunt and crashed in flames. One pilot was killed but the other parachuted to safety, officials said. The dead man was identified as Navy Lt. Cmdr. Mike Gershon. The second pilot, Lt. Andy Caputi, received minor injuries. The two planes collided at Niagara Falls, N.Y., International Airport during the Western New York Air Show ’85.
