Unitary Tax in California
What sense does it make to repeal a major source of revenue? It doesn’t, but when you are desperate to raise money for the next campaign, why let reason stop you? Go for it! Go for the gold! That’s what the legislators are doing in their desire to repeal the unitary tax.
My respect for the Legislature has reached rock bottom. Can’t it ever serve the public interest? Must it always serve corporate clients and campaign contributors first?
It says a lot about the quality of representation today that the Legislature is more apt to pass special interest bills than it is to pass public interest legislation such as campaign finance reform.
