Junior center-forward John Tronson scored two goals each in the first two days, and goalie Phil Heaver recorded his third straight shutout Tuesday to lead the Cal State Northridge soccer team to the championship of the California North-South Tournament at Cal Poly Pomona.
Tronson, the tournament MVP, scored twice Sunday in CSUN’s 5-0 win over Sonoma State. He scored two more Monday in a 2-0 victory over San Francisco State.
CSUN (3-0), ranked fifth in the NCAA Division II preseason poll, got goals from Frank Cabillos, Steve Demaine, and Scott Murray in Tuesday’s 3-0 win over ninth-ranked Cal State Hayward.
Rodney Batt and Rick Gora joined Tronson on the all-tournament team.
