Downtown Focus, a Whittier urban planning consulting firm, has been retained to help Temple City develop a revitalization program for its sagging retail district. City Manager Karl Koski said a committee of businessmen, municipal staff members and other residents recommended that an outside consultant be hired to bring “new insight” to efforts to rekindle business.
The contract will pay up to $10,000 for what is expected to be a 10- to 12-week planning process, Koski said. “We need a specific program to revitalize our commercial area to attempt to make it competitive with surrounding areas,” he said. “And we want to provide a good package of goods and services to our residents.”
