Charlotte News to Fold

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte News, first published in 1888, will fold Nov. 1 because of declining circulation and revenues, Knight Publishing Co. announced today. The afternoon daily’s staff will be absorbed by the News’ sister paper, the Charlotte Observer.
