The City Council honored a 15-year-old Boy Scout on Tuesday for going to the aid of an elderly man who had been stabbed during an apparent robbery attempt last year.
When the scout, Michael Walker, spotted the pair attacking the 64-year-old man on Aug. 25, 1984, he rushed to the rescue.
The 6-foot-3 Boy Scout kicked the knife from the hand of one assailant and both men fled. The youth then applied first aid to the bleeding man until help arrived.
Citing the youth’s heroism, Councilwoman Eunice Sato presented Walker with a special certificate of commendation during the council’s Tuesday night meeting.
