Basketball Coach Dale Brown of Louisiana State said that 7-1 Tito Horford could go to prison if he lied on a deposition given to school officials before his enrollment as a freshman last summer.
Before receiving an LSU scholarship, Horford agreed to discuss his recruitment by the school under oath and signed an affidavit swearing he had told the truth. Brown said LSU asked for the deposition as insurance against recruitment violations that prevented the University of Houston from keeping Horford.
“Every question imagineable was asked in the deposition we gave to Tito,” Brown said. “Unless he plans to spend some time in Angola (a state prison), he’d better not have said something to the NCAA that he didn’t tell me before we took him.”
The 19-year-old arrived at LSU in August seeking to enroll after the NCAA had accused Houston of recruitment irregularities. On Sunday, Horford was booted off the Tiger basketball team for missing a practice and a scrimmage.
