Shine Takes Reins of BIA in Southland

Jack Shine, founder and president of First Financial Group, Encino, has been seated as president of the Building Industry Assn. of Southern California, succeeding Ira Norris.
He was installed, along with other 1986 officers, at the group’s convention in San Diego. John J. Koelemij, president of the National Assn. of Home Builders, presided at the event.
Other new officers of the nation’s largest regional builder association include DeVere Anderson, first vice president; Mel Wynn, vice president of governmental affairs; Michelle d’Arlin, vice president of membership and public relations, and Don Steffenson, secretary-treasurer.
Shine, who formed First Financial Group in 1972, is also a founder and director of the American International Bank, Los Angeles. He is also a Los Angeles County commissioner of music and performing arts, a member of the board of the San Fernando Valley Cultural Foundation and the Fraternity of Friends of the Music Center.
