The Cerritos City Council has approved construction of 155 townhomes on a 15 1/2-acre plot in the northwestern corner of the city. Fieldstone Co., a Newport Beach firm, is developing the parcel south of 166th Street next to John H. Niemes Elementary School between Gridley Road and the Artesia city boundary.
Ann Crump, a Fieldstone spokesman, said construction on the two-story units should begin by the end of November. A sales office and models should be open by April. Completion of the first units, which will range in size from 1,454 to 1,686 square feet, is scheduled by next summer, she said. Three different floor plans with two or three bedrooms will be built. Prices of the units have not been set, Crump said.
