Caesars World Inc., which operates casinos in Nevada and New Jersey and hotels in Pennsylvania, reported that its income rose by 28% in the first quarter. The Los Angeles-based company said it led other casino operators in Atlantic City in gaming wins. Its New Jersey operations had an operating profit of $11 million, compared to $7.4 million a year earlier. In Nevada, operating profits at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas rose slightly to $11.8 million from $11.5 million, while earnings from the company’s Tahoe, Nev., operations dropped by 78.7% to $1 million from $4.7 million.
