Scott Rejoins Lakers; Nevitt Put on Waivers

PORTLAND, Ore. — on Scott returned to the Lakers’ active roster Friday, and Chuck Nevitt returned to the unemployment line, although he may not stay there long.
The Lakers put Nevitt, a 7-5 center, on waivers, where he can be claimed by any other NBA team until Sunday. After that, he will be a free agent.
Coach Pat Riley said that if Nevitt is not claimed on waivers, the Lakers would like him to play for the Kansas City Sizzlers, their affiliate in the Continental Basketball Assn.
Scott missed the minimum of five games while he was on the injured list because of a slightly pulled left hamstring, but the Lakers decided to activate him just as soon as they could. Scott will be in uniform tonight when the Lakers play the Portland Trail Blazers.
Nevitt, 26, expected that he would be the one to leave as soon as Scott was healthy.
“I hope the fans don’t burn down the Forum,” he joked.
