WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : Melbourne Hits 48 Free Throws in Win Over CSUN

Three players from the Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team fouled out Friday in a 58-53 loss to the Melbourne Tigers of Australia in an exhibition tournament at UC Davis.
Melbourne scored 48 of its points on free throws in the opening-round game.
Junior forward Denise Sitton led CSUN with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Teammate Julie Middleton scored 11 points, and sophomore forward Regan O’Hara had a team-high 10 rebounds. O’Hara also scored 8 points with 3 assists and 2 steals.
Northridge will play the loser of the Sacramento State--UC Davis game today in the consolation round.
Canyons 59, Allan Hancock College 47-- Ruth Fierro scored 20 points to lead College of the Canyons women’s basketball team to a 59-47 victory over Allan Hancock College in a nonconference game on Friday night.
Canyons is 1-2, while Hancock dropped to 0-2.
