In a Nov. 10 Opinion article by Benno C. Schmidt Jr. on Atty. Gen. Edwin Meese III and the Supreme Court, a sentence was mistranscribed. It should have read: “Brennan’s answer will, I fear, tend to reinforce those like Meese, who believe that if the court is not tightly tethered to a concrete version of original intent, then the alternative is unfettered judicial discretion.”
