Phillip A. Furst has been appointed chief executive officer of the newly formed VSI Fasteners, Inc., based in Stanton. Furst, 53, founded the original company, Furst Volt and Screw Co., in 1956 and was chief executive officer of the company when it was acquired in 1980 by Fairchild Industries, Inc. of Chantilly, Va. He led the group of company officers and outside investors who bought back the company in August for approximately $25 million.

VSI Fasteners markets packaged consumer fasteners, chains and rope products to hardware stores and home improvement centers throughout the United States.
