Yellow Tennis Balls Coming to Wimbledon

LONDON — For the first time in the tournament’s 108-year history, yellow tennis balls will be used at next year’s Wimbledon championships, officials of the All England club announced Wednesday.
But the club’s rule that players must wear predominantly white clothing will remain, said chairman Buzzer Hadingham.
Hadingham revealed that immediately after this year’s championships in July, tests which were carried out in conjunction with television cameras, demonstrated that a superior image was presented by yellow balls rather than the traditional white. Yellow balls are used in nearly all other major tournaments.
