Farm prices ended the year off 5.2%.

The price that farmers got for raw products rose 0.8% in November--the third straight monthly increase--but it was not enough to offset earlier declines in the index compiled by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which forecast no major recovery this year. Oranges, broilers, cotton and lemons--all major crops in California--dragged down the index despite higher prices for lettuce, hogs, corn, tomatoes and soybeans.
