WASHINGTON — President Reagan announced today that he will designate Lando W. Zech, a former senior naval officer who has been a member of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission since 1984, as the commission’s new chairman.
Zech will succeed Nunzio J. Palladino, who has announced he is leaving the commission. Zech, 62, retired from the Navy as a vice admiral in 1983. He had been a deputy chief of naval operations and commander of naval forces in Japan.
