San Diego Prep Baseball : Boney’s First-Pitch Homer Gives Grossmont a 1-0 Victory

Grossmont High School’s Shon Boney hit Mike Hastings’ first pitch for a home run Friday to give the Foothillers a 1-0 win over University in a Hilltop-Moose Tournament game at Grossmont.
Jason Sloss pitched a three-hit shutout and struck out three as Grossmont improved its record to 4-1. University is 2-2.

CRAWFORD TOURNAMENT
Serra 9, Crawford 2--Chuck Pierce and Thad Parker each had two hits and Tim Finn struck 10 as the Conquistadors (5-0) beat Crawford (3-2) in a semifinal game. Serra will play host to Christian at 1 today with the tournament championship at stake.
Morse 4, Mira Mesa 1--Joel Lager (1-0) pitched a one-hitter and brother Duane went 3 for 4 to lead the Tigers (2-3) over Mira Mesa (3-2).
GMC TOURNAMENT
Santana 4, Sweetwater 2--Jeff Gay went 2 for 2 and scored twice to lead the Sultans (3-1) over Sweetwater (3-3) at Santana. Bill Reed went the distance to earn a win in his first decision of the year.
PIRATE-GOODMAN TOURNAMENT
Fallbrook 3, Orange Glen 1--T.J. Flynn hit a two-run homer in the first inning and Joe Comer pitched a three-hitter as the Warriors (7-0) remained undefeated by winning at Fallbrook. Flynn’s home run was his fourth of the year. Orange Glen is 3-1.
