Myers Captures Tournament on 18th-Hole Eagle

Terry Myers, of Sunnyvale, shot an eagle on the final hole Friday to score a two-stroke victory in the $22,000 Golden State tournament at Valencia Golf Course.
Myers’ winning shot, from 45 feet, gave him a final-round 71 and an even-par 144 for 36 holes. He earned $3,000.
Todd Yoshitake, of Montebello, was tied with Myers entering the final hole, where Yoshitake shot a par and ended in a tie for second with Pat Sharpe, of Yorba Linda. Sharpe shot a 69 and Yoshitake shot a 75 in the second round. Both golfers won $1,750.
Two golfers from the Valley area finished in the top eight. Rusty Clark, of Calabasas, shot a 147 to tie for fourth place, winning $1,300. Dave Russell, of Canoga Park, shot 74 in both rounds to tie for seventh and win $1,050.
Four other Valley-area golfers finished in the money. Clyde Hughey, of Tarzana, shot 151 and took home $576. Wayne Case, of Thousand Oaks, finished at 153, winning $233. Tom Anton, of North Hollywood, and Mark Lavander, of Thousand Oaks, scored 154, winning $116 each.
The tournament was the first of a 10-event series over the next three months.
