HOT FLASH DEPT.: John Sykes, vice president of programming at MTV and the wiz behind much of the 24-hour video channel’s inventive contests and special programming, has left MTV to join the powerful Hollywood talent agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Sykes will be based in L.A., where he’ll be involved with CAA pop talent aquisition and working with musicians who are expanding into film and other visual media. CAA executives would not comment on the move.
