United Way: ‘Need Goes On’

I presume that most of The Times’ subscribers in Southern California have been reading the articles about United Way concerning the loans that were made to certain executives. I believe that poor judgment was exercised by the people involved; however, I see no criminal intent.
The most important consideration we must address is the service that United Way provides for the many agencies and individuals who desperately need help. The majority of Americans want to help those who are in need. When we read about those who are canceling their pledges to United Way, we wonder if they really care. Withholding their support does not correct the problem but it does hurt those who are truly in need.
I appeal to every loving, caring person to support United Way in helping those who are less fortunate. I plan to double my commitment to United Way this year.
