Man Gets Donor Heart

PITTSBURGH — A man who had lived eight days with a Jarvik-7 artificial heart was in critical condition Sunday after surgeons replaced the pump with a heart from a human donor. Edmund McDermott, 32, of Scranton, Pa., underwent the transplant operation Saturday at Presbyterian-University Hospital.
