Local News in Brief : Final Count Confirms Dennis as Bane’s Foe in November
- Share via
Brian K. Dennis, a tax preparer and real estate and insurance broker, won the Republican primary in the 40th Assembly District, the final vote tabulation has confirmed.
The initial ballot count after the June 3 primary gave Dennis 15 more votes than his GOP opponent, Bruce Dahl, owner of a wallpaper store, for the nomination to run against incumbent Assemblyman Tom Bane. But the outcome was not final until all the absentee ballots were counted.
When the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder released the official count Tuesday, Dennis had won by 36 votes. Dennis received 8,088 votes to Dahl’s 8,052.
Dahl, who could not be reached for comment, is entitled to a recount if he agrees to pay should the outcome remain unchanged.
