Raytheon Co. of Lexington, Mass., a major defense contractor, said its profit rose 6.1% in the quarter ended June 30, compared to a year earlier. “Sales increased in all business areas compared with last year’s second quarter,” said Thomas L. Phillips, Raytheon’s chairman. “Operating performance was paced by electronics, our largest business segment, as our defense electronic systems continued to grow strongly,” Phillips said.
